Welcome to the World Baby Boy!!!

Casey Stephen Claeys made his way into the world at 10:43 in the morning on Friday, March 7th, 2014. He weighed 7 lbs 11.6 oz at birth and is already back to his birth weight at five days old! His birth was swift. I went into pre-labor at 5:30 Thursday evening and had fairly steady moderate contractions until about 8:30 when they petered off. I was able to lay down a bit (on the floor where I could get up to my hands and knees or kneel when a contraction hit) until about 5 in the morning when they started back up again. We left for the hospital at about 6:30 and checked in at 7. I was already dilated to about 3-4 cm’s so we got put right into our birthing suite. At that point things progressed rapidly. I only pushed for about 30 min before our beautiful baby boy was lifted onto my chest.

The entire experience was…amazing, primal, empowering, something that I have not quite processed. I had an amazing group of people surrounding me including my husband Alex who must have been terrified but stayed by my side rubbing my back and breathing with me. Casey’s birth story is something I want to fully process and document properly so I’m sure I will be posting it later on. Right now, we are just in heaven; completely enthralled with this little being who has completely turned our world upside down in a wonderful way.

He’s napping right now and I should be too but I felt like I needed to write something to let everyone know he’s here!! And he’s amazing. Here are some pictures πŸ™‚
